Communications Strategy

Like a blueprint for a building, a strategic communications plan is essential if you hope to construct a program that matches your objectives, uses tactics that are affordable and suited to your audience, and contains the kind of metrics that provide meaningful results.

James Hale has taught communications planning to public relations students, written plans for government departments, major corporations, universities and non-profit organizations, and consulted on the implementation of communications strategies. Most importantly, he has extensive experience executing plans — bringing practical expertise to the table along with theoretical work.

While he believes in firm principles — like audience research, ongoing measurement and adherence to a budget — he brings an architect’s imagination to tactical execution. From traditional methods like news releases and fact sheets to new social media approaches, including blogging and podcasts — James Hale can use whatever communications channels will ensure that you achieve your objectives.

In addition to consulting as an outside resource, he has served on numerous boards of directors and management committees, including: Communications Chair of the Carleton University Alumni Association; Vice-President of the Jazz Journalists Association; President of Ottawa Independent Writers; and President of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.
